stagecoach, COLORADO

Comprehensive Master Planning

Open briefly in the 1970's and closed ever since, Stagecoach Mountain just outside of Steamboat Colorado is envisioned as a new model for responsible alpine resort and community development.  At the crossroads of the Rocky Mountains and Yampa River, the project integrates an awe-inspiring landscape with year-round recreation opportunities and sensitive development that is authentic to its place. The future of Stagecoach is guided by the key values of stewardship and sustainability and a commitment to creating a timeless and authentic community to live, work, learn and play for local residents and the region.

Mountainworks/Design Workshop were engaged by an investment team to create the master plan and vision for the 3,595 acres of contiguous private land.  The services included master planning, ski area design, base village design, community planning, four-season recreation planning, and strategy services.

  • Stagecoach will be the first major four-season resort to open in Colorado since the 1980's.
  • 1,625 acres of skiable terrain and 4 major lifts
  •  The ability to develop up to 1,300 ski & recreation in/out units in a variety of single family, multi-family, and hotel products.
  • A vibrant community and base village that incorporates accommodation, commercial, event lawns, snowplow, community gardens, a locals neighborhood, and variety of amenities.
